ANTARCTIC CENTRE

WOW! What an amazingly fantastic trip!
Here are some of our thoughts:
Ollie - I liked the snow room because it had the slide in it and it had a cave.
Cooper - I learned that Antarctic birds eat penguin eggs. I liked the blue penguins because they were cute.
Aoife - I loved the Hagglund ride.
Kacey - I liked the Hagglund ride because we got to go down the hill and we floated on water.
Emily - I liked the 4D movie because it was scary and a bird plopped on my head.
Lily - I liked the snow room because I liked going on the slide and it was fun.
Joe - Did you know the Antarctic is bigger than Australia and New Zealand together?  It's 60 times bigger than New Zealand.
Charlotte B - I loved the snow room because everyone went crazy.
Dyllan - I liked the Hagglund ride because it was fun and I liked the snow room because the igloo was a bit warm.
Tim - I liked the snowstorm because when I went on the slide it only made me go faster.
Jonty - Did you know every new winter Antarctica gets bigger?
Houston - I liked it when the bubbles came during the 4D movie.
Nate - In the snow room I didn't like the snow storm.  I liked the slide when it wasn't stormy. In the 4D movie I got a fright and I laughed and laughed because the bird pooped on us.
Tane - I liked the 4D movie because the water splashed in my face.
Charlotte P - I liked everything.
Alfie - I liked the part when Jonty turned down the temperature in the snow room.
Tahnul - I liked the 4D movie because the chair moved.
Emily - When I went in the snow room my hands froze.

EGG, WATER AND VINEGAR

We decided to put one raw egg in a cup of water and one raw egg in a cup of malt vinegar.
We made some predictions about what might happen to the egg.
Egg in vinegar:
Tim - The egg shell might break and float to the top and the rest of the egg might stay at the bottom.
Dyllan - The egg might lose its shell.
Ollie - The egg might turn bouncy.
Houston - The shell might break and the yolk might come out and it will turn colourful.
Emily - The egg might shrink.
Lily - The egg might shrink and the vinegar might turn whitish.
Aoife - The vinegar might turn a little bit orange and the shell might come off into little tiny bits.
Cooper - The egg might break apart and get soggy.
Lachlan - The shell might get dottie.
Jonty - The vinegar might turn orange/white.
Alfie - The yolk might start to get spotty and glow and the shell might get all lumpy and bumpy.

Egg in water:
Nate - The egg might stay the same.
Joe - The egg in the water might dehydrate.
Kacey - The egg might grow bigger.

St John Ambulance

The children had a great time learning about ambulances, fire engines and police cars.  They learned that if they ever have to dial 111 in an emergency it is really helpful if they know their address and phone number.  This would be a good thing to practise at home.

Cross Country

We have some fantastic runners in year 2! Well done to Joe for coming 3rd in the year 2 boys and Emily for coming 2nd in the year 2 girls.  Everyone deserves a huge pat on the back for doing their best.

Mihi

We learned our mihi in term 1. Here are a few examples, these were the clearest and easiest to hear.
