Discovery Time

This is our creation. It is a preschool. We pretended that the teddies are children. Someone is the kids and someone is the teacher. Me and Charlotte have been building castles, houses and last of all preschools. The materials that we used were blocks, shapes and sticks. We piled the blocks onto each other then put a platform on top and when we finished we got the teddybears and started playing. If you want to have a go just get the materials and start making and thats what we made at discovery today.

Japanese Visitors

We were very lucky today to host some visitors from Japan.  The group are in New Zealand to attend school and develop their English.  Room 18 had 5 students so we split up into small groups.  They asked the children lots of questions about school and then the children showed them around our classroom and the school.  Some children taught the visitors some new games and some got to make some origami.

Flash Mob Dance

BOOK WEEK

We have been having such a great week surrounded by books and reading.  We enjoyed our visit from Craig Smith and look forward to his new book 'Square Eyes' which is due out soon.  Joe helped nibble some people in the audience (hee haw).

Today Room 18 won the book quiz in the junior school.  I was thrilled that the children could answer so many questions about books and characters, many of which I didn't know the answers to.  You obviously do a lot of reading at home.

We also surprised the whole school with our flash mob dance.  It was brilliant!!!

Winners from book character day

Well done Tim and Emily for being selected as 'best dressed characters' in Room 18.

ICE ICE ICE

What an exciting morning! The children arrived at school to find ice everywhere.  There were all sorts of different objects in the ice, even ice hands!  Here is a snippet of the excitement.

VINEGAR EGG

It was finally time to get our egg out of the vinegar.  Would it bounce?  How high would it bounce?  We started off bouncing it close to the ground and gradually got higher and higher.  I think the highest we got from the ground was about 20cm before the egg went SPLAT!  We are going to write some instructions for our egg experiment so you might be able to do it at home.
